So Ive been wide awake since 4am ’cause Im SOOOOO excited. Me and my BFF Claire are headed down to the beach this morning to join 70+ other ladies for our annual crop hosted by Wendy, a Creative Memories Consultant. This will be our 3rd year attending! I packed the car last night, and I must say I am very proud of myself…if you scroll thru my old posts I have a “how to pack for a crop” series….I cut out 2/3 of this stuff. I would include a picture…but its dark outside
There are a few little things I have to grab this morning and pack my clothes, but Im all set. We have our route planned out, it includes the adult beverage store, michaels, acmoore and the grocery store (hotel has mini kitchen so it saves A LOT of money…but I have to get my seafood in while im at the beach too!) It was much easier to pack this time as I narrowed my “projects” down. I am working on both of my younger brothers albums with pics my mam-maw gave them over Christmas. Also my youngest brother will graduate from the Naval Academy in May and I am working on an album that has all of his Navy pics (he did a tour in Iraq before going to the academy). I also have my childhood album, dont know if I will work on it…but thought I would have it just in case. I also brought along my recent scrapbook circle and studio calico kits….that way if I decide to get really “artsy”…because our childhood albums are very basic, most decorations done with paper, not a whole lot of extras. Well I need to get another dose of coffee in (the only bad thing about getting up so early is I know that the next 2 nights will be pretty close to all nighters….we get WILD and CRAZY! but I have a BLAST!) and get a few more things packed up and get my rugrat up and ready for school. Hope yall have a great weekend, I am going to try and do a few videos while I am there. Hmmmmm lets hold a contest…post a pic, or a link to your blog or youtube of a project you completed this weekend, make sure your are a follower and I will pick the “most inspirational to me” project to win a set of signo pens from jetpens.com (white, silver, gold, black, blue, red). Contest will end Monday, Feb 28, 2011 at 5pm EST. I will pick the “most inspirational to me” project winner on Tuesday March 1st. Have a great weekend!

I wanted to thank all the people who left amazing comments and became followers…I really appreciate it.
To address a few of those comments:
My mom was flattered that everyone thought we were twins/sisters!
I scraplifted the kindergarten layout from a magazine I saw this past summer – I would love to give credit…but I just cut out pictures and dont keep all of the info associated with it…sorry – but for someone to say they would scraplift me is the biggest honor I could ever hope for!
The flowers on the canvas are Recollections from Michaels – I wish I could make them…but its easier to buy them
The picture of Raleigh skyline was a google find – but I LOVE IT! wish my photography skills were that good!
I hope to have a lot more layouts to show yall in the next 2 weeks as Im going on a weekend crop at the end of the month and hope to be super productive
. I am also working on a mini for my aunt this week that I will share.

Cricky Across the 50 Blog Hop
February 11th, 2011****CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED****
A Big Cricut Hello & Chirp to each of you! Welcome to the Cricky Across the 50 Blog Hop hosted by K Andrew of Getting Cricky! . If you are here from New York, Erin Span of I am SpantastiKreations then you are in the right spot. If you just arrived here and would like to start from the beginning please go to KAndrew’s Getting Cricky! For this blog hop K Andrew is celebrating her big move across the country with a big road trip, and of course this hop across the 50 states! She has asked us all to post a little bit about the state we are representing, and then to post our Favorite Craft Project. I am representing the state of North Carolina.

Welcome to the great state of North Carolina. I was born, but not raised here…but the lack of trees in Texas brought me back to this beautiful state! I live in Raleigh, NC – right in the center – 3 hours west you are in the beautiful Appalachian mountains and 3 hours east your toes are sinking into the sandy beaches of the outer banks. I love the mountains, especially the fall with the changing of the leaves. You also have the Biltmore House which is a big attraction (even though I haven’t had the pleasure to visit it yet). Charlotte also has a very nice downtown scene, and you can catch a Panthers or Bobcats game – or head on over to Concord and visit the huge mall or watch a NASCAR race. Wilmington is a very nice city where you can enjoy the waterfront or historic sites such as the USS North Carolina battleship. My boyfriend and I like to visit New Bern and Moorehead City for the quaint downtowns and excellent fishing! The coastline has many things to offer – from the historical light houses, scenic beaches, and yummy seafood. Now for my city – Raleigh – also a part of what is known as RTP (Research Triangle Park). It is a great area for college education and sports, you have North Carolina State University, and those other 2 schools, oh, pardon me…I might be a little partial – those other 2 schools are University of North Carolina and Duke University. So if you’re not enjoying an ACC sport like basketball or football you can head on over to the RBC Center and catch a Carolina Hurricanes Hockey game. They just wrapped up the Hockey All-Star game a few weekends ago. The RBC Center also hosts a number of concerts, rodeos, and other family events (ie. Disney on Ice). Downtown Raleigh has come a long way in the last 13 years I have been here. The downtown area is now booming with small shops, restaurants, bars and they have all kinds of events down there. My son and I went ice skating together (he held on to me and we went around the rink a whole 3 times!) this year, as they had an outdoor rink downtown thru the winter. We love to visit the museums and historical government sites, they also have a very nice kids museum downtown we make a trip to at least once a month. Raleigh has a great atmosphere – big city with small town atmosphere. It also has a lot of urban sprawl, but that gives us everything we need within driving distance. For all you scrapbookers we also have an Archivers!
For the “crafty” part of this blog Kristal has asked us to pick the our favorite project we did this year…well….that was hard…so I have two!
The first one a layout of my son on his first day of kindergarten.
The second is my first altered art canvas project I created using an awesome photo of my mom and I that we had made this summer. It is just a special picture to me and I wanted to have it displayed with more than just a frame.
I hope you enjoy your travel across the 50 states. As a thank you for stopping by I am having a give away for the Awesome Uniball Signo Pens in White, Silver and Gold.

My Favorite Girls – 12 x 12 Layouts
February 4th, 2011Hello Everyone
Here are 2 – 12×12 layouts I created last night of my favorite girls. Brooke – my boyfriends daughter and Lily – my best friends little girl. Both photos were taken this past 4th of July at the fireworks show.
For Brooke’s Layout I used the Basic Grey Romania Collection. I used American Craft Thickers White Foam Subway letters and used Faded Jeans Distress Ink to give them a cloudy look. I used some bling from Scrapbuck.comthat I picked up at the CKC Show in Charlotte last year. I handmade the flower and added a liquid pearl dab in the center. I titled it “Baby Blues” because the blue blanket she was laying on and the blue shirt she was wearing gave her beautiful piercing blue eyes.

For Lily’s Layout I used Cosmo Cricket’s Storybook Collection. I really love the clouds on the one page. I used 2 different EK Success border punches to create the decorative strip across the page. The flowers are from the Recollections packages you get at Michaels. I did a little bit of faux stitching along the border and photo mat. Title is created using American Crafts Thickers in White Jewelry Box and added some stickles on the letters to give them a little sparkle.

Hope you enjoy the layouts. I think I will get a few more pumped out this weekend due to the nasty weather – and while watching the Super Bowl! I would also suggest you hop over to scrapbookcircle.com and follow their blog hop. I receive their monthly kits and they have some very inspirational designers. Have a warm and safe weekend. – Amy
